INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad on 26 th June, 2021 .The school organized webinars for the students to create awareness against drug abuse .Class XI students were addressed by Dr.M.N.Venkiteswaran, Medical SUPDT and Head of Pediatrics, St Joseph’s Hospital, Manjummel and spoke to them on the perils of drug abuse ,its impact on individuals and society at large. The child and adolescent consultant told that drug addiction has become a worldwide problem especially in teenagers. He warned the students to stay away from drugs because drugs affect our health, lead to academic failure, and jeopardizes safety.
In an another webinar on ‘Anti –drugs and Misuse of Mobile in Children’,Circle Inspector ,Sri K Dhanapalan, Janamaitri Police ,Thrikkakara addressed the students of class XII and told them to stay away from such social evils like drugs , mobile phone addiction etc.and sought students’ cooperation to eliminate such dangers from the society.
Mr.Ganeshan, Excise Dept explained the evil effects of drugs and motivated students to stay away from it, while addressing the students during the virtual assembly. Being a resource person associated with ‘Vimukthi‘ ,he shared a few real life experiences which were real eye openers for anyone who listened to him.He urged the children to chase their goals ,spend time with the family members and embrace life and not drugs to have a successful and happy life ahead. The message was indeed very inspiring and Mr.Ganesan made it more interesting for the students by reciting a few lines from Malayalam poems which also implied the consequences of drugs.
